Sadly, I didn't get to see this incredible storm roll in, but was awakened at 8am by raging winds and sand slamming against my 8th floor apartment windows. When I opened the closed curtains, it was pretty dark out and I figured it was about 4:30am/5am. Then I looked at the clock and it said 8:00am!!! It lasted for a few more minutes before it started to rain heavily and then slackened a bit before brightening up.
I frequently read 248am.com which is a local Kuwait blog, and they had an incredible picture of it coming in. The intense sandstorm came directly from the North which is unusual for here as our sandstorms come from the West or Northwest. Anyways, I contacted the photographer who took the striking pics and asked her if I could post them on my own personal blog. She was very kind and gracious to allow me to do so! :)
These three photos are taken by Lucie Debelkova, an amazing photographer. Check out her sites! :)

The air in these pictures is heavy with sand, not just dust, hence the blocking out of the sun and the sky turning black as night!
I have also linked from Youtube a great video of it rolling in and literally turning the sky as black as night within 2 minutes! Nope, not my video, but again posted by someone who watched it roll in. A truly incredible storm! :)
Fortunately, because my apartment faces South, it didn't flood. Those who faced North and Northwest however, were definitely flooded with the large quantities of pelting rain that followed! The nice thing about the rain is that it brought down a lot of the sand and dust, but it did make everything muddy and flooded out many places. We also lost the green canvas sun covers that shade the back courts of our school due to the strong winds. It was quite the sandstorm!
Anyways, just wanted to post this so you could see what the storms are really like at times over here! :) Enjoy! :)
PS: Only 66 more days until I get to come home for 7 weeks! :) I'm getting excited! :)
